Mobile Registration of Persons with Disabilities by ZAPD in Northern Province…THe sure way to Go!

On behalf of Friendly Barn Development Foundation (FBDF) Zambia, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the International Labour Organization, Zambia delegation, United Nations, and Zambia Agency for Persons with Disabilities for their collaborative efforts in the mobile Disability capturing, registration, and issuance of Disability cards in Northern Province.

We are particularly thankful for the OPD stakeholders meeting held today at the Provincial Planning Unit, Permanent Secretary’s conference facility, where valuable experiences, challenges, and successes were shared among selected representatives of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities. The ongoing capturing of persons with disabilities is progressing smoothly, and we appreciate the inclusion of many individuals in the Zambia’s ZAPD database and the issuance of disability cards.

The meeting provided a vital platform for discussing advocacy issues surrounding healthcare, education, and employment, which have historically created barriers for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Zambia. We encourage all stakeholders to familiarize themselves with the 2012 Persons with Disabilities Act No.6 and international protocols like the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

Thank you again for your dedication to promoting the rights and well-being of PWDs in Zambia. We look forward to continued collaboration and progress.
